I don’t think there is any question whether or not 2008 was the year of Social Media. Facebook reportedly grew to over 150 million users and is currently growing at a rate of 600,000 new users per day. The “MySpace for Grown-ups” social media site surely makes connecting with long lost friends much easier and is a dream for those of you looking to attend or plan a high school reunion.
2009 is shaping up to be the year of Social Commerce, the merging of traditional commerce and social media. Everyone from Amazon to Wal-Mart are embracing social commerce as a way to drive traffic and business in a difficult economy.
The roots of social commerce go back sixty years to launch of network marketing. Network Marketing is best defined as the movement of goods and services through face to face or social networks. Network Marketing is a fast growing industry yet largely misunderstood industry today that is gaining the attention of billion dollar early adopters like Richard Branson and Warren Buffet.
I’ll bet my house that your brother-in-law didn’t know that Warren Buffet and Richard Branson own Network Marketing companies.
If you haven’t taken a look at Network Marketing in the last 6 months, you haven’t taken a look at Network Marketing.
