We would go where the people go, stalking unsuspecting mall shoppers or business section browsers at the Barnes and Noble.

While some Network Marketing teams still teach that stuff, I would offer that there is a new place where the “people go”. It’s called Facebook.

Check this out from Social Media Examiner:

According to recent findings by market researcher Morpace, U.S. Facebook users are on the site for 1 of every 3 minutes of time spent online. Users 18 to 34 years old spend the most time on the site per week (8.5 hours out of 22.4 spent online). Users 55 and older spend an average of 4.6 hours per week on Facebook.

Yep, 1/3 of our time online in the U.S. is spent on Facebook and get this: the group who spent the most time on Facebook and online make at least $100,000 annually.

What does that mean to a marketer?

It means that we need to figure out ways to tap into those people. I’m not sure anyone has a good way of doing this with Facebook’s constant changes. (We will dig deep into this topic in the coming days, weeks and months.)

It means that we need to be very careful with how we spend our time on Facebook. Yes, I’m talking to you Farmers, Mafia Honcho’s and Quiz Takers. If you want to build a six-figure income in your spare time, you can’t be using that spare time to plant zucchini in your fake Facebook farm.

It means that we are in a race. Big companies might move slow but eventually they move and when they do, the playing field will change dramatically. We need to act now.

It doesn’t really matter how cool that job is, after a while it gets tiring.

So, how do you think people feel on Facebook and Twitter when you spend all of your time talking about your Network Marketing business?

Facebook and Twitter are a lot like a party and if you want to to be the life of the party, building relationships and networking, there are a couple of simple things that you can do.

Use your own picture in your profile and smile.

Show a sincere interest in others and ask a lot of questions. (How To Win Friends and Influence People – 101)

When you talk about yourself, spend 75% of your time talking about Fun, Food and Family.

When you talk about business (the other 25% of the time), offer real value. Send people to quality articles on your blog, send people to quality articles on other blogs, post valuable videos. Let your opt in offer on your blog and your follow up autoresponder do the selling for you. Don’t ever sell on Twitter or Facebook.

Want to add value to this post and help build your personal brand? Share your own Twitter and Facebook tips in the comments…

Many people feel as though they are lost and behind the curve in this crazy world of marketing an MLM business online, but the reality is that things are changing so rapidly that there has never been a better time to begin educating yourself and taking action on what you learn.

MLM Online Marketing Success

There are 4 vital components to creating success online in any MLM:

1. Create your home base on the Internet by starting a blog or WordPress marketing hub.

2. Build your reputation as a trusted advisor and thought leader by providing your blog readers great content and articles.

3. Drive traffic to your blog by utilizing social media such as Twitter and Facebook.

4. Capture the traffic through your own opt in list by giving away something of value in exchange for your readers email address.

—–

Ty Tribble was an early adopter in the world of MLM Blogging and has created tens of thousands of leads along with millions of dollars in business by implementing 7 MLM Web Secret Files. You can download the secret files for free here.

Here is a little snip that I really enjoyed:

It’s about value and relationships

You should be using Twitter as an additional way of providing value. You should be giving more than you are receiving. If you give, you’ll naturally receive. Don’t be scared of using Twitter as a way of building your new online community. Don’t be scared of using it as a way of promoting an existing one – Twitter isn’t competition to your community. Just play by the rules.

OK, I never really left Gmail, I just check my Gmail through Mac mail, but Google Buzz might make me reconsider using Gmail exclusively.

This from the official Google Blog via MLM Blog:

We’ve blogged before about our thoughts on the social web, steps we’ve taken to add social features to our products, and efforts like OpenSocial that propose common tools for building social apps. With more and more communication happening online, the social web has exploded as the primary way to share interesting stuff, tell the world what you’re up to in real-time and stay more connected to more people. In today’s world of status messages, tweets and update streams, it’s increasingly tough to sort through it all, much less engage in meaningful conversations.

Our belief is that organizing the social information on the web — finding relevance in the noise — has become a large-scale challenge, one that Google’s experience in organizing information can help solve. We’ve recently launched innovations like real-time search and Social Search, and today we’re taking another big step with the introduction of a new product, Google Buzz.
